Prisoners before citizens

Guantanamo

There was an article posted on yahoo today about Guantanamo detainees getting their H1N1 vaccination. This seems oddly absurd to me because not everyone in the U.S. has the vaccine available to them. According to Maj. James Crabtree, inoculations will begin this month, first to guards, then to detainees (Gitmo detainees).
There isn’t much that needs to be said on this matter except for the fact that the base should already be closed and we should definitely not be paying for vaccines for POW’s when our own citizens don’t have complete access to the vaccination.

Citigroup adds fuel to the fire

After receiving forty-five billion dollars from TARP, also-known-as Troubled Asset Relief Program, along with having 220 billion dollars set aside in case they need more, Citigroup gives Andrew J. Hall a pay package worth up to 100 million dollars. This may spark some interesting debate on both wall street and in the Obama Administration.

No word as of yet whether they are going to weigh in on the compensation package given to their new exec, but one thing is sure, the American people certainly will not take this well.

The state of the economy is very fragile and jobs are still being lost. People are still out of work and unable to get another job due to the amount of people seeking work.

We will have to just wait and see what happens in the next few days.

I am so sick of watching these companies paying huge packages to people that either are not helping the company or hurting the company. These select few people that make over even 1 million dollars in cash a year should be ashamed of themselves. We have people going hungry in this country and families being put in the street due to the executive’s actions, yet we have to just sit back and watch it happen with a smile on our face for our next(hopeful) interview. It is sickening for me to watch this happen and I hope this administration puts a tight leash around this big companies. What I would really like to see is for these huge conglomerate corporations either be split up or sent packing so a new, fresh company can take it’s place.

The Racial Profiling Profile expert.

APTOPIX Harvard Scholar Disorderly

It seems as though Sgt. James Crowley had been chosen by the police commissioner to teach other recruits about not profiling.

At this point the details seem a bit sketchy as to what words were exchanged between Crowley and professor Henry Louis Gates, but one thing is sure, he was in fact breaking in to his own home. Apparently officer Crowley approached the residence due to a possible burglary call to find Mr. Gates inside the home, when asked for identification and proof of ownership of the home all the pertinent information was given and it was obvious Gates lived at the residence. Crowley states that Gates repeatedly accused him of racism and made derogatory remarks about his mother, allegations the professor challenges. This is simply a citizens word vs. a cops word. The arresting officer is declining to apologize and is upset that Barak Obama weighed in on the matter stating “I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry. Number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home…….”

Gates was arrested for disorderly conduct, however the charges were later dropped. The facts are that Gates was inside his home when officer Crowley approached him and subsequently proved that he was the owner of the home, and that Gates was arrested for being “disorderly” while standing inside his home.

Honestly, I don’t care what Gates said to Crowley, once Crowley got the proof he needed from Gates about him being the owner of the house, the officer should’ve left, irregardless of what Gates said to him. It is not the job of the Police officer to “politically correct” anyone and especially not when that person is standing inside of his home.

I won’t say that the officer was actually profiling Gates, because he was responding to a call and it was his job to check and make sure everything was in order, but I believe that(from what I’ve read) Crowley acted with his ego and pride instead of using objectivity and better judgement. This is a prime example of why citizens dislike police officers. You are treated like a child by them and when you do something out of line, you will go to jail, no questions.
